Mary's time machine was trying to kill her. She knew this, because it kept telling her so. "I'm gonna kill you so hard," the jumpkit said.
"Stop talking," Mary said. She was trying to figure out where she was. She was standing in the middle of a cobblestone street lined with rowhouses. She was soaking wet. All around her, soldiers were running.
"You're in Stalingrad," the jumpkit said.
A bullet smacked off the cobblestone and went whizzing past.
Okay, Mary thought. You should run.
