What remains when God is removed from the explanation?
Atheism can reject a god. It can dismantle a religious claim, expose a failed argument, or refuse an explanation unsupported by evidence. But once God has been removed, the deepest questions of human existence do not disappear with Him.
Why is there something rather than nothing? Why does matter produce conscious experience? Can evolved minds trust their own reasoning? Are moral truths objectively real, or are they human constructions? What becomes of responsibility if every decision has a causal history? Can human dignity, rights, purpose, and meaning survive without anything beyond the natural world to ground them?
In The Problems With Atheism, Rayford Aquirre subjects atheism - and the naturalism, physicalism, humanism, and moral philosophies often associated with it - to an unusually rigorous philosophical audit.
But this is not religious apologetics disguised as criticism. A difficulty for atheism does not automatically prove God. A gap in physicalism does not establish a soul.
