The Rural Motor Express - To Conserve Foodstuffs and Labor and to Supply Rural Transportation

This is a government document released by the Highways Transport Committee, which at the time was part of the Council of National Defense, a United States organization formed during World War I to coordinate resources and industry in support of the war effort, including the coordination of transportation, industrial and farm production, financial support for the war, and public morale. The document pertains to a resolution passed by the Council to approve the widest possible use of the motor truck as a transportation agency, and requests the State Councils of Defense and other State authorities to take all necessary steps to facilitate such means of transportation, removing any regulations that tend to restrict and discourage such use.
