There they meet Drut: an ancient warrior of the Crachow, a race of towering badger-like beings driven nearly to extinction after a catastrophic war against a resurrected king named Diarmuid. But Branook is not simply another world. It is connected to Earth through the Vein — an immense living force threading between realities, carrying memory, consciousness, and corruption alike.

And Gregory has accidentally opened himself to it.

After consuming the Radising root — a rare growth formed directly from the Vein itself — Gregory begins to change. Wounds heal instantly. Strange instincts emerge.
