I picked up a half-starved cat from a dumpster, washed him, fed him, gave him a home… and he repaid me in a way I would not wish on my worst enemy.
One ruined laptop, one stolen flash drive, and one very suspicious chase later, I found myself in another world. A forest cottage. Vampires. Shifters. Magic. A talking cat who now insists he is my familiar. And me, apparently, in the role of a powerful healer-witch.
At first glance, it could have been worse. The cottage is almost a magical smart home, there is no rent to pay, and the pantry fills itself. Live, adapt, and be grateful.
Just one problem.
I am a lawyer. I know contracts, liability, compensation, marriage contracts, and how to make a vampire regret his life choices on paper. Healing people, however, is another matter entirely.
Give me a contract for vampire feeding services or a carefully worded marriage agreement, and I will manage beautifully. Ask me to brew a potion, and someone may not survive the experiment.
And then a tiger shifter appears on my doorstep with a wounded man in his arms and demands that I save him.
Because of course he does.
