It would be an injustice if the next generation does not get to hear of this name and all it represented. Orphaned as a teenager, Eliam Biyela had to navigate the challenges that life dealt him, yet he emerged as one of the greatest leaders in his sector.
He lived as a gentle giant with a touch of grace and excellence. He emptied himself to the benefit of every organisation he was part of. He strived for peace and justice for all, young and old, rich and poor.
This is a story that cannot be left untold; of how a young man from the deep rural areas of Inkandla, Kwa-Zulu Natal, with many odds against him, touched his generation with love and grace. Impacting every life he came across. A servant leader who would stop at nothing to find solutions. A great mind, that listened more than he spoke.
Many great leaders do great things at the expense of their families. He defied the odds by being a present and loyal leader to his family first. Imparting values at every chance he got. The bar was set quite high.
We wish there was a way to send a message to heaven. The content of the message would be a bold "THANK YOU, FOR A LIFE WELL LIVED."
What we have are stories captured in this memoir as we remember: THERE ONCE LIVED A MAN.
