Six men set out from Kitui before sunrise in an old white minibus boldly painted with the words HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY. To anyone watching from the roadside, Kofi, Badu, Jengo, Sani, Musa, and young Tuma look like ordinary traders heading to Nairobi. But hidden beneath their bags and blankets are tools for a dangerous plan: they intend to rob the house of a wealthy businessman.
At first, the journey is full of jokes, food, and wild dreams of riches. Kofi imagines a grand house with a blue roof. Musa dreams of the biggest television in Kenya. But as Nairobi draws closer, greed begins to poison the group. The men start arguing over money they do not yet have, suspecting one another, and quietly planning how to get a bigger share.
Only Tuma, the youngest of them, sees where the road is truly leading. Frightened by what his companions are becoming, he must decide whether to follow them into trouble or find the courage to choose honesty before it is too late.
