This short story collection has students in eight grade through high school and the first year of college. Peer pressure, making new friends and going on new adventures are all topics. Several stories showcase neurodivergent students Sylvia and Mark and how they find their path in public school settings. Teen pregnancy is mentioned in the "Diaper Debacle" and in another, a suburban girl deals with subtle racism and challenges herself to confront it. Gifted and talented Elias and Molly have different school problems but also learn uniquely. Band student Tom has to deal with extreme bullying. In another, suicide is briefly addressed with no graphic details and finally Millie finds a new friend volunteering at a local animal shelter. Suitable for ages middle grades through high school and older. (a few mild swear words, no sex, some difficult topics with humor and satisfying resolutions.)
