What makes a system remain the same while it changes? When does a difference become a problem? What turns interaction into a record? What lies beyond an observation boundary? What must an alternative theory of gravity do before it deserves scientific standing? And when does a reversible process become practically unrecoverable?

Unfinished Questions — Volume I: Foundations of Change opens a four-volume research architecture containing 110 research programmes. This first volume develops the foundational 31, moving through five connected territories: persistence, systems and boundaries; difference, resolution and consequence; observation, time and accessible reality; vacuum, gravity and foundational physics; and thermodynamics, boundaries and irreversibility.

The book is designed not as a catalogue of answers, but as a map of defensible places from which research can begin. Each programme separates what is already known from what remains unresolved, identifies competing explanations, proposes experimental, computational, conceptual, or theoretical pathways, and asks what evidence would genuinely matter.

Special attention is given to research discipline. New terminology is not treated as new knowledge. Interpretation is separated from prediction. Construct tests must demonstrate incremental value. Theory challenges must satisfy correspondence before claiming extension. Frontier propositions such as Structured Vacuum Energy, Resolution Theory of Gravity, and Alignment Threshold Time are presented as questions to test—not conclusions to protect.

For students, supervisors, scientists, researchers, and independent scholars, Volume I offers project entry points ranging from undergraduate studies to doctoral and advanced programmes. Its deeper aim is simple: to help readers move from an interesting topic to a researchable problem, from a preferred explanation to a falsifiable test, and from uncertainty to evidence.

The volume begins with persistence and ends with irreversibility. Between them lies a disciplined architecture of change.
