descriptif du fournisseur

In the shattered borderlands of post-war Czechoslovakia, where the mass expulsion of the Sudeten Germans had emptied centuries-old communities and replaced them with strangers who knew nothing of one another, a man on a bicycle rode the quiet paths between industrial towns and committed murders that no one connected for half a decade.

Václav Mrázek was born in 1925 into a household where theft was a family trade and moral inhibition was never built. Radicalised by an armed escort assignment on a UNRRA humanitarian convoy through Romania and Bulgaria, where he witnessed coerced sex, cargo looting, and recreational shooting at living targets, he returned to Czechoslovakia carrying a paraphilic psychology of devastating precision: arousal anchored to the instant of a victim's collapse, and no internal structure capable of stopping him acting on it.

Between August 1951 and November 1956, Mrázek killed seven people across three administrative districts of northwest Bohemia, while a communist security apparatus — purged of professional investigators, starved of forensic infrastructure, and fragmented by ideological redesign — failed repeatedly to connect the evidence that would have identified him. A centralised ballistics database would have found him in 1952. An administrative clerk's oversight kept him off the screening list entirely.

This is the story of those seven people, the institutions that failed them, and the landscape that made the failure possible.
