"Poor Folk" is a novel by Fyodor Dostoevsky that explores the lives of impoverished individuals in 19th century Russia through a series of letters exchanged between two main characters, Makar Dievushkin and Barbara Alexievna. Makar, a low-ranking government clerk, and Barbara, a young woman struggling with illness and financial hardship, share their daily experiences, thoughts, and emotions through their correspondence. Makar's letters reveal his deep affection and paternal care for Barbara, as well as his own struggles with loneliness and financial instability.
